The ART OF ENABLING and PROPOGANDA.

       

We, as a nation, may soon be making the biggest mistake in history and elect Joe Biden and his crew of propogandists and enablers.  We may be going “all in” on an upside-down culture, where facts are fiction, fiction is fact, hypocrisy is acceptable, honesty is condemned, freedom and liberty are considered old fashioned, consequences are irrelevant and guilt is considered a virtue.  Maybe we’re already there?  Guilt, think white privilege, is already considered virtuous to a lot of Americans and an honest discussion of policy consequences is definitely verboten.  Hell, critical thinking let alone critical debate is almost non-existent as of late.  Why deal with the facts?  They are so annoying and problematic and oft times lead to the need to address the concept of personal responsibility.  And what if the facts don’t fit my agenda?  What then? Well, in today’s new world, who needs stinkin’ facts.  Just make them up, right Adam Schiff?  Who cares if it leads to the ruination of something great, like the United States of America?  We can just delude ourself into a blissful stupor and lie and ignore our reality right up until the end.  Folks, Death of a Nation is the name of the path we are headed down, most seriously. 

And it’s our fault because we have become a nation, from the top down, a nation of enablers. Now, we all know what an enabler is, but we think of wives enabling alcoholic husbands and parents making excuses for their failing children, not our culture as a whole, not as a national flaw.  Sure, the concept of enabling seems easy to understand, doing for others what they can and need to do for themselves.  I’ll give you that it’s often difficult to distinguish between helping, supporting and enabling, thus the good-hearted politicians (maybe) insisting the poor need more welfare and the banks and auto-industry need bailing out.  Enabling is always camouflaged with claims of good intentions that do nothing to shield the ones being enabled from experiencing the full impact and consequences of their behavior, because enabling permits people to be irresponsible, like us.

Don’t believe me, that our culture is failing because of a mass enabling going on?  Let’s take a look at the Hazelton Clinic’s list of enabling behaviors and see how it might apply to the current state of affairs.  If you didn’t know, Hazelton is the addiction clinic for the stars, the crème de la crème of rehabilitation facilities.  Anyway, here are the traits of an enabler”

1. Enabling protects the enabled individual from the natural consequences of their behavior.  This is an easy one.  Unemployment compensation, food stamps, rent assistance, the list is long, but they all allow folks to deny personal responsibility for their food and shelter.  Corporate bail-outs do the same thing.  In the case of our financial institutions, it allowed them to take un-thinkable risks and make ridiculous gambles, knowing that if they failed, they would be bailed out.  We can check this box in the analysis.  Our government is almost insistent on protecting people and corporations from the natural consequences of their behavior.

• The enabler keeps secrets about the enabled’s behavior in order to keep the peace.  When we bailed out the auto and financial industries, little was reported about the conduct that got them into the dire financial circumstances.  When it comes to welfare, I can’t remember the last time an honest public discussion occurred regarding the life choices the recipients continue to make.  We keep the cause of the need, the fundamental problems secret or we just ignore them.  Check the box.

• An enabler makes excuses for the enabled’s behavior.  Sure enough, the economy and laxed regulation caused the financial collapse, not reckless risk taking.  The economy was the reason the auto-industry struggled, not ignorant budgeting, strategic planning, and over-leveraging, debt.  And of course, if you’re unemployed, un-motivated, and un-prepared to take care of yourself, it’s society’s fault, racism, and the failure to provide a decent education.  Check the box.

• An enabler bails the enabled out of trouble, by paying their debts.  No need to explain this one.  The box is checked.

• The enabler blames others for the enabled’s behavior.  Welcome to America.  It’s not your fault your poor, un-educated, lazy, reckless in your spending, or immoral.  It’s the fault of the other side of the aisle, white supremacy, slavery, cops, public education, ya da ya da ya da.  Check the box.

• The enabler erroneously identifies the problem as something other than the real cause.  This is getting redundant, but here goes.  Russia election interference, America is the real global polluter, America is the cause of everything bad in the world, the United States of America is a nation founded on sin, Blacks kill blacks because of economic reasons, all of these things are feeble attempts to explain away the current failures of our system and none of them are the true problem.  Box checked.

• The enabler avoids the addict (the one being enabled) to keep the peace, employing an out of sight, out of mind, philosophy.  Have you ever heard Black Lives Matter carp about black on black crime?  How about discussion about Joe Biden’s corruption?  How about climate change?  When’s the last time you heard anybody point out that Asia’s pollution makes our environment look like the Garden of Eden?  Of course, those are bad facts, so being a nation of gifted enablers, we ignore them and refuse to even acknowledge them.  Again, box checked.

• An enabler gives money that is undeserved.  Duh.  Our entire government has morphed into a redistribution mechanism, constantly taking and giving money, almost always from people who don’t deserve it to be taken from them and given to people and industries that don’t deserve to get it.  To me, our government is like a bully in a class room saying, “everybody give me all of your money,” and then redistributing it as the bully pleases, always keeping a bunch for himself.  And worse, if you’re friends with the bully, i.e. Wall Street, General Electric or Academia, you get a bigger cut.  Funny how the democratic socialists, Sanders and that moron A.O.C. claim to care but really are just the bully in my example.  Anyway, box checked.

• The enabler attempts to control that which is not withing the enabler’s ability to control.  On the individual level, this means the enabler plans activities, choses friends and gets jobs for the enabled on.  On a national level, this means telling you what to put your thermostat at, what to drive, what to eat, where to live, what to wear (masks), how to behave and even how and where to speak as in political correctness and safe places.  Is there any doubt that our nation is attempting to control things they simply cannot control?  There isn’t.  Another box checked.

1. The enabler makes threats that have no follow through or consistency.  Our politicians are constantly telling us that if we don’t follow their direction, buy-in, dire consequences will follow and if we do follow their direction, great times will follow.  Of course, little changes unless we, as individuals, take it upon ourselves to make the change.  Notwithstanding the promises, threats and warnings from the political class, nothing changes until an individual decides to make a change and disregards the enabler, going at life on their own. We can check this box.

1. The last Hazelton criterion is that care takes the enabled person by doing what he or she is expected to do.  This is a scary one.  You’ve heard the term welfare dependency or generational welfare, right?  Well, those folks have been taken.  The same goes for industry.  They take the money and Washington owns them – or maybe both of these groups own Washington.  It rings true that a kid with enabling parents kind of runs the roost into the ground.  I think it is called co-dependency.

So, it’s pretty clear that the best way to characterize our government and our nation is as an enabler.  I find it to be the most accurate and comprehensive description of us at the this point in time.  But how do they do it?  Are that many Americans so messed up that we can ignore the facts of our individual existences and demand a spot on the enabling teat?  Unfortunately, yes is the answer. 

But why?  Here’s the answer, dishonesty.  We are being assaulted with the greatest propaganda attack in history.  Propaganda is the art of persuading people to have a particular view about something. Propaganda is always biased. It is used by political leaders or organizations to deliberately mislead a population into believing a certain set of facts or beliefs to be true. Propaganda is used by most countries to encourage hatred towards a manufactured enemy and to promote a chosen agenda.  It has been used for four years to stimulate hate for Trump and to hide the flaws in the opposition.  It is a big, exceedingly well-funded, organically coordinated effort to hide the destiny of our nation that they seek and to deny the destiny of our nation that those of us who avoid being enabled cherish and desire. 

And Joe Biden is the wax mannequin enabler in the lobby of the wax museum where, if you chose to enter, he’ll tell you that everything’s okay, that nothing is your fault, that the bad guys will be taken care of, if you just give me your trust, freedom and liberty, if you just suspend your beliefs, everything will be great.  And as you enter, right after handing Joe your fare, you’ll smell smoke and you’ll look to Joe with a questioning gaze, to see if Joe smells it too.  He’ll smile and shake his head in disbelief at your concern – and say, “Come on man, no worries.  Just let me enable you and you’ll be fine.  I promise.”   

If you’re a true American, in spirit not nationality, you’ll respond, “No thanks, and no matter what happens Tuesday, no thanks again.”
